The Notion Doc That Landed Me the PM Role in a New Country
Hey friends,
Here’s something I’ve never shared publicly before:
📄 This is the exact Notion doc I sent that helped me land my PM role at Kajabi — before I even had an interview.
It’s not a case study.
It’s not a portfolio.
It’s just a collection of real product ideas based on my experience as a Kajabi customer.
Let me walk you through how this worked — and how you can apply it.
🛠️ The context
I’d just moved to the U.S.
No local network. No shortcuts. Starting fresh.
But I’d been building my own product (Product Academy) on Kajabi, so I had:
-
Real user insights
-
Clear ideas on how to improve the platform
-
A personal reason for wanting the role
When I saw the job post, I messaged an old colleague who knew someone at Kajabi.
“Hey, this PM role looks like a great fit — I’m actually a paying Kajabi customer. Mind connecting me with the hiring manager?”
He made the intro.
But I knew being interested wasn’t enough.
📄 So I sent them this:
👉 Kajabi Creator Tools — 11 Product Ideas
What’s inside:
-
A short intro on why I care
-
A Loom walkthrough
-
11 product ideas focused on:
-
Real customer gaps
-
New monetisation paths
-
AI opportunities
-
Nothing flashy.
Just practical ideas that showed I understood their product — and their customers.
⚡ Why this works
Hiring managers don’t want another resume.
They want to know:
“Can this person solve problems I care about?”
This doc answered that question — before they even asked it.
❓Do you need to do this for every job?
No.
This isn’t a volume play.
This is for roles you’re genuinely excited about — where:
-
You believe in the product
-
You’ve experienced the pain points
-
You can speak their language and offer something specific
If writing 3–5 ideas feels like a chore, that’s a signal.
You’re not applying to the right places.
Focus on fewer opportunities, but go deeper.
That’s how you stand out.
🧠 What you can steal from this
Instead of mass applying, try this:
-
Shortlist 3–5 companies you actually care about
-
Use their product, if possible
-
Spot 3–5 product opportunities (speak with their customers; use AI for market research; look at their competitors)
-
Create a Notion doc + Loom walkthrough
-
Send it before they ever ask
Not everyone will respond.
But the right people will notice.
